The Winooski Basin includes the headwaters of the Winooski (Stevens Brook and Jail Branch), the Dog and Mad Rivers, Shelburne Pond, the LaPlatte River, and the shoreline areas of Shelburne, Charlotte and Burlington that drain directly to Lake Champlain.

Watershed and river groups in this Basin include the Friends of the Winooski River and the Friends of the Mad River, Winooski NRCD, Winooski Valley Park District and many town conservation commissions.
