Site Description:
This section of Potash Brook is slow moving and very shallow. There is about 65% canopy tree cover, and the water is mostly clear and odorless. Riparian forest is present on both sides of the brook, however erosion is visible. Due to the speed of the current, these sediments have time to settle which is one reason the water is clear. There were many large rocks and submerged trees in the river bed. This site was also in close proximity to roads, a construction zone, farms, parks, residential areas, and forests.
